When did
you join the Quilting Bee: I applied on June 29, 2006 and was accepted on
August 6, 2006
What
made you want to join the Quilting Bee: The cuteness factor. I discovered
the Quilting Bee 3 or 4 years ago and thought it was super cute. I wanted to
join. I think I actually applied once before....(?) At that time, I wasn't
really too involved with a website. I ran across the bee several times
throughout the years. Finally, last summer I discovered it again. At the time, I
didn't have a job yet and was sort of feeling a little depressed. The Q*Bee gave
me something to do, and it made me feel productive!
How did
you get started pixeling: I don't really consider myself to be a very good
pixeller. I'm learning. Basically, I started pixelling more when I joined the
Q*Bee. At Christmas time I wanted to practice my pixelling skills more, and
that's why I came up with my
Q*Bee Advent Calendar. It helps me a lot to look at pixels created by other
people so I can get an idea of what kind of shading would look good or what
shapes to use.
What
inspired you to create your first website: Duran Duran. I am a HUGE Duran
Duran fan, and when I got my first computer back in 1997, I decided I wanted to
make a Duran Duran website. I called it "The Shelter Under the Stairway" (a
combination of two song titles). I had NO idea how to make a website at all. I
used FrontPage to create my pages and then uploaded them on Geocities. I shut my
Duran Duran site down in January of 2002, but it's what really gave me my start.
What are
some of your future goals: I want to become a teacher again. Right now I
just have an instructional assistant position. I think I actually might enjoy
teaching college level technology classes or education classes. I really enjoy
kids and education, so I want to continue with that. I'd also like to win the
lottery (maybe a million dollars or so), live in Disney World for awhile, go to
Disneyland so I can ride the Alice in Wonderland ride, have a child (no more
than 2, and not for awhile!), become famous, and live on a secluded island
surrounded by rainbows and tropical fish. ^___^
School
or Work :
Work. I graduated in 2005 with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
(P-5). Currently I am the computer lab instructor, School Technology
Coordinator, webmaster, and ESS instructor at a local elementary school. If I
continue in education, I will have to earn my Master's Degree. (And then I'll
probably want to get my Rank I to make even more money....maybe become a Doctor
of Education? :o )
Hobbies
: I love playing my pink Nintendo DS. Other hobbies of mine are: reading,
doodling, playing around with my website, watching tv/movies, shopping, talking
about my cat, playing board games, making jewelry and other crafty items,
and.....surfing the Q*Bee or BBS for hours at a time!
In your
own words! :
The grass might be greener on the other side, but it still grows weeds! In
life you will face many obstacles that try to prevent you from succeeding and
becoming who you want to be. Don't let them stop you. Rainbows are pretty,
strawberry smoothies are yummy, and cute stuff will prevail. Adopt a cat. =^..^=
