Sittin’ in the Lab (Day Three)
day three of reclining in the lab-
claire’s foot was improving, there was no scab
april was transcribing gun control laws
mrs. parker was skimming our papers to catch the flaws
travis was behaving in a sublime angelic way
tessa was in murray playing at quad state
jessica was chomping away at her viscous gum
and i was sitting here having oodles of fun
brandon was munching on a banana colored straw
outside it was outrageously blah
tabitha was engaged in highly pressing studies
as cynthia say beside her, the nutty buddy
treg was acting rather taciturn
lance was showing absolutely no concern
danielle’s hair was undulating in the breeze
david was pounding on the computer keys
amanda’s muffled laughter is surely ephemeral
and the way stephanie was concentrating-man, unbelievable
mrs. groves was pondering the meaning of life
mrs. parker suggested go fly a kite
this routine seems monstrously banal and mundane
no i’m not crazy, nor am i insane
my mind is simply intellectually stimulized
i am truly feeling revitalized
prestigious poetry is what i write
so why should i feel contrite?
About “Sittin’ in the Lab (Day Three)”
As the title says, this was written on the third day of typing writing portfolio pieces in the computer lab my senior year of high school. As with the first poem, I tried to include our vocabulary words.
(And yes, I know “stimulized” is not a real word. I made it up.)
