Rainbow Stuff Domain Information

Rainbow Stuff has been around since July of 2004. It has changed and grown a lot since then. This site has been through some serious stuff: frames, tables, iframes, Cutenews, and other atrocities that I didn't necessarily know were atrocities at the time. I am a kid at heart who loves everything cute and colorful. "Rainbow Stuff" was the perfect domain name for me to choose because of my cheerful and bright personality.

Rainbow Stuff has been met with some criticism here and there along the way. While I understand that a lot of people out there in the world despise, loathe, or even shudder at the mere sight of rainbow colors, this website is mine and not yours. Rainbow Stuff is a truly personal website. Whether it's my personal blog or graphics I've made or maybe even my personal to-do list, this site really is about me. Do I want my visitors to be interested? Yes, but the purpose of my website isn't to give away free graphics or write tutorials. Everything here is here for a reason. If you are not a fan of happy, cheerful things then my advice to you is that you might want to toodle on off to another site. Best wishes to you!

Rainbow Stuff has hugely been created and updated using Microsoft FrontPage (in the past). Now, before you scoff and roll your eyes (and possibly even pretend to barf), let me explain. I got my first computer when I was in 8th grade. I wanted to create a fan site for my favorite band, Duran Duran External Link . I knew nothing, I mean ZERO about website design or HTML. I learned everything on my own. FrontPage really helped me understand the basics of coding. I loved (and still love) the ability to switch from code view to design view to a preview. I know other programs can do that, but I just always felt comfortable with FrontPage. I never rely on it to code things for me. I know some versions of FrontPage can create deprecated code (the version I have at work is absolutely the worst at this!), but I enter in all the code manually. Since I switched hosts, I've been relying a lot more on FileZilla to upload files and plain old Notepad to code. In fact, I am happy to say that I no longer use FrontPage to update Rainbow Stuff anymore.

Rainbow Stuff was originally hosted by Yahoo Small Business. (Why Small Business? I made a mistake when registering to be honest.) My hosting experience with Yahoo was fairly pleasant. I didn't really experience too much downtime of my site or Yahoo's servers. My only beef with Yahoo was that they do not allow you to upload htaccess files to your website. This was troublesome when I was trying to change the permalink structure for WordPress. In July of 2007, I switched to Site5 External Link for my hosting needs. Their customer service is fantastic and speedy quick. I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

Rainbow Stuff is XHTML and CSS validated (to my knowledge). I have made an honest attempt to make my website as accessible as possible. You may read more about the accessibility of Rainbow Stuff here. If you ever see something terribly wrong with my site, please let me know so that I may work to correct the issue. Keep in mind - I'm still learning. This site has been tested in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera.

About the current layout

The current theme was created by me and is called "Me and Annabelle" (creative name, I know). The theme features me and my cat Annabelle. I am very excited about this theme. My previous "Raindrops" theme was up for over two years! I believe I originally put it up in the fall time, so the gray rainy thing worked at that time. I think my new theme is very subtle, cute, and simple. I hope everyone likes it. :)
