Major Ice Storm Disaster

Okay, to be quick here (I am typing this at my parents’ house using their generator), we lost all power on Tuesday around 12:00 (noon) and do not know when we will get it back. We have natural gas, so the burners on our stove kept us warm. Plus, we bought hundreds of dollars worth of candles. Seriously. Yesterday I went to Nashville with the parents. We then had to drive from there to Bowling Green, KY and they got a generator and I got us a kerosene heater. Now we are super warm and toasty. We have it a lot better than some people.
Note to brother-in-law should he ever read this, Colin told you to email the parents!!! What’s up with that?!
Anyway, I’ll return as soon as I have power. Any emails will go unanswered obviously. I still Twitter from time to time using my cell phone (when it has signal), so check on there for updates.

wow! I can’t imagine going days without electricity! Luckily you found ways to keep warm though

Good luck living without power :content: -

I live in Owensboro and we had it pretty bad here also. We got out power back Friday night. Me, my mom and daughter went to Walmart to get some snacks and the place was packed. I was surprised at all the rude people. To me, in a time of crisis I’m all about help your neighbor and anyone who needs it. It took all that I had not to smack the stupid out of some people.
My sister won’t have power for another 3 weeks. She had to get 2 generators. -
Hopefully by now you already have power? It’s been more than a week already :s

I hope you have your power back, if not I hope you’re staying warm, dry and safe! *hugs*

Reading your tweets on twitter, have fun at school tomorrow
that bites about not having power for the last while. -
Uggghn, that sucks! I’ve been there, we have regular tornados here (had one go right down the highway a few years back and take out the only grocery store!), but in Washington we had an ice storm so bad that it wrecked our place and we ended up in a shelter for two weeks and a motel for another week, so we at least had a place to go. Hope everything’s better now!

[...] twice after they got their generator. We got to see some TV and that’s when I wrote the other blog post about what was going on. I felt totally cut off from the world! I’ve been without the internet before, but I was [...]
