My Votes Counted!

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

So Tuesday was voting day here. Kentucky had its primary, and I voted. After voting, I was given a sticker that said “My Vote Counted!”

Well, Tuesday night was also American Idol night, and I voted for David Cook about 15 times.

Wednesday… Hilary Clinton won Kentucky and David Cook won American Idol! (Yes, I just admitted to the world that I cheer for Hillary Clinton)

My votes DID count!! :D

Earthquake! (?)

Friday, April 18th, 2008

So, apparently there was a 5.2 earthquake early this morning. I was sleeping. I didn’t feel it, hear it, etc. I woke up to get ready for work and turned on the TV like always, and they were talking about what to do during an earthquake if you are in your car. I thought it was weird to be talking about that, but then it became apparent that there had actually been an earthquake.

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake centered in southern Illinois rattled homes and skyscrapers across the Midwest this morning, causing little damage but surprising residents unaccustomed to such a powerful temblor.

The quake was one of the strongest ever recorded in Illinois and occurred just before 4:37 a.m. southeast of West Salem, Illinois.

The U.S. Geological Survey says two aftershocks during the next three hours measured 2.6 and 2.5.

Fifteen miles away from the epicenter, a woman was trapped in her home by a collapsed porch but was quickly freed and wasn’t hurt. And a two-story apartment building was evacuated because of loose and falling bricks.

The quake shook skyscrapers in Chicago’s Loop, 230 miles north of the epicenter. It was felt as far away as Georgia and Michigan and caused minor damage in portions of the midwest.

So if you go to wfie.com, they have a link to the morning news that was live when the earthquake happened. It’s kind of funny. The weatherman is like, “I think we’re having an earthquake.”

When I got home after work, I told Colin that everyone but us must have felt that earthquake. And he said, “You didn’t feel it?” And I said, “No! I was sleeping!” And then he told me that there had been a second one at around 10:15 today. Didn’t feel that one either. I was too busy to notice I guess.

Weird. Earthquakes. Here. Wow. And there are more to come?

Snotty Keyboard

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

A first grader sneezed all over his keyboard today. And this wasn’t just some liquid spray coming out of his nose/mouth. There was some thick and juicy stuff that came out too. And guess what - it got all down in between the keys on his keyboard. It was a total pain to get out. Thank God for Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.

No School! Flooding!

Friday, April 4th, 2008

It was pouring down rain last night. The weather radio went off twice to announce a flash flood warning. I have never ever in my life heard it rain like it did last night. I was still surprised though when my mom called me this morning and told me there was no school today due to flooding. Yay for getting an early start on my spring break, but it’s another day we will have to make up now. :P

MyDesign Award… Yeeaah…

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

So, Bubs recently received this email telling her that her site had won an award. She had to go to this site, create an account, and ta-da - here site was then listed on this site. She promptly got a negative comment about her site. Idiots. Lo and behold, I had the same email in my inbox today. I think the site is pretty wacked, but I did submit my site just to get some general feedback. Rate my site. Or not. Won’t hurt my feelings either way. :)

Twitter What You Eat (Twye)

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

I just discovered Twye (Twitter What You Eat). Twye works with your Twitter account. Every time you eat something, you can Twitter what you’ve eaten and it will send it to your Twye diary. Your food items do not show up on your Twitter page. You can include how many calories you’ve eaten along with the thing you ate, and Twye will keep track of how many calories you’ve eaten in a day and the average number of calories you’ve eaten overall. Seems pretty neat so far!

Blog Catch-Up

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

I missed reading everyone’s blogs while I was gone to Louisville. I am in the process of playing catch-up. If I usually visit your blog but haven’t made an appearance in a few days, expect me to pop by sometime soon! :)

More snow?

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I am in Louisville, but back home they are saying to expect 8 - 12 inches of snow. Unbelievable!!! Here in Louisville I think they are calling for mostly sleet at first and then changing to snow. I hope I don’t have to drive home tomorrow in a blizzard!!

iGoogle Obsession

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

I have been obsessed with iGoogle ever since Colin showed it to me a few days ago. It’s basically like My Yahoo if you’ve ever used that. There are so many add-ons! I’ve got several add-ons installed including: craft tip of the day, interesting thing of the day, Disney character of the day, a fun game called Flood It, and other random things. You can add different pages of things. I’ve set up a page for all of the blogs I read with their RSS feeds linked. I also have a news page and an entertainment page. It’s fun. :D
