I need to blog

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Yeah… I need to write something! I’ve been thinking about all sorts of things I could write about or want to write about. I’ve just been (you guessed it) busy and haven’t had time to write anything with any substance. :P Maybe I’ll get a chance to write something whilst at work tomorrow…

Pouncy is pretty much back to her old self though.

Back home with a sick cat

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Well, after some silly moments I made it home yesterday about 4:00 p.m. or so. Let’s see, when I was checking out of the hotel, this man who was standing by the counter went, “Whoa! You smell gooooood!” He kept going on and on about it. Then he said, “I can see why you’re married.” The man behind the counter said, “What?” And the other man said, “She’s married, and I can see why. She’s smelling fine!” It was a little weird and creepy that he noticed I had a wedding ring on and thought I smelled so good. Clinique Happy Heart. Get some and attract weirdos just like I do. :sweatdrop:

Downtown Louisville

I made it to the conference with no problem. I just wanted to add that the reason I went to McDonald’s so many times while I was gone is because it was the closest thing to my hotel, and I didn’t feel brave enough to venture out and find food elsewhere. My workshop on copyright was pretty good. A lot of my teachers are doing things they shouldn’t be. Hopefully they won’t be sued. :) Lots of people apparently left the conference on Thursday night to try and beat the snow. Lots of people left yesterday morning too, so all of my workshops were pretty empty. I ate lunch by myself at T.G.I. Fridays. I’ve never eaten in a restaurant like that by myself. It was definitely weird. I had to walk around in the snow and stuff. It was really cold. It started snowing in Louisville about 8:30 or 9:00 probably.

Driving home from Louisville

As I was eating lunch, a brilliant thought came to me. I hadn’t gotten all of my first choices of workshops since I registered kind of late. I thought that maybe since lots of people were leaving though, I could get into a workshop that I had really wanted. (The reason I wanted it so bad was because you get free software valued at $200.) I decided that I couldn’t possibly adequately learn all about 5 different types of animation software in an hour, so I decided to try and find out of I could switch from the animation workshop to the other one which was about creating newsletters and school newspapers. I asked someone at the registration booth, and she told me to go ahead and show up to the workshop I wanted and it would probably be okay. And it was. Only me and one other girl showed up. I got my free software though, so all was well. :)

Driving home from Louisville

I made it home mostly with no problems. It was hard to see driving out of Louisville. A lot of the road signs were covered in snow which made it hard to tell where I needed to go exactly. There was pretty heavy snow all the way past Elizabethtown. Once I got into Muhlenberg County, the snow decreased dramatically. By the time I was back in Hopkins County, the snow was like non-existent. It was really lame. They had cancelled school yesterday due to “the threat of snow” and it didn’t even snow all day really! Luckily, I got home just in time. The place to turn onto my road was starting to get slick. After I got home, it started snowing harder and snowed pretty much all night I think. We have probably at least 8 inches of snow. It’s crazy! It hasn’t snowed like this in forever. You could actually build a snowman out of this!

Pouncy has had a cold for the past few days: runny nose, runny eye, and sneezing. She was also having some trouble breathing it seemed like. I decided when I got home yesterday afternoon that she needed to go to the vet. They were closed. :P I took a hot shower though and had her stay in the bathroom with me. We also turned on the humidifier for her. The vet was supposed to open at 7:30 this morning, so I called and the vet said the roads were really bad and he wasn’t going to be there long. Luckily, the vet is like 5 minutes away. We bundled up Pouncy and took off through the snow. She usually freaks out about the car, but she did okay today. She also did okay once we got in the vet’s office. She didn’t freak out about the dog or cat that were also there. The doctor was the only one there, so he was also having to answer phones and everything. Once we got in a room, we had to wait quite awhile. Pouncy got anxious and antsy and started freaking out. She was panting and sounded like she might hyperventilate and stuff. She was growling and hissing, biting and scratching and trying to get away. She hates the doctor. Always has.

Tractor and Snow Pile

The doctor finally took a look at her and couldn’t believe that she’s almost 18, has FIV, and has been doing absolutely fine for the past 3 and a half years. He said she’s outlived any FIV statistics that there are. He did say she definitely had a bad cold though. He gave her an antibiotic and some medicine for her eye too. He said to keep taking hot showers with her too. It’s important that she doesn’t lose her ability to smell, because if she can’t smell her food she won’t eat. Luckily, she is still eating and everything. She just looks so pathetic and sounds so sicky. :(( I hope the medicine starts helping her and she feels better soon.

Luckily Pouncy is an inside cat and doesn’t have to deal with this —-> (And the pile is getting bigger.)

Happy Birthday Pouncy

Pouncy's 17th Birthday!

Pouncy’s birthday was on July 6th. She is…. *drum roll* 17, SEVENTEEN, years old! She still acts like such a spunky little kitten. As a treat, we got her a plain Cheeseburger from McDonald’s (she always tries to get our food when we bring food home). She opened it and drug the top bun off. The she started trying to eat it. She picked up the patty and bottom bun and carried it off into the dining room. I finally cut it up for her. She loves cheese. It was so adorable. Pouncy is the bestest cat ever. I’ve had her for practically my whole life it seems. I can’t imagine not having her around!

She’s still doing just fine with her FIV. You’d never know she had by just looking at her. She’s still fairly thin, but she’s always been a tiny cat. Pouncy is so precious.

I never did post pictures of my new hair. I was just too sad (ha, ha, ha…). So here for your viewing pleasure is….*drumroll* my hair, before and after. In the before picture, my hair is piled up in a hair clip. I’m still not used to the length really. I can’t do as much with my short hair. When I do try to pull it up, it makes me end up looking like I don’t really have any hair!

Before: Me with long hairAfter: Me with shorter, more curly hair

Wanna see something totally adorable? It’s Pouncy!! It looks like she’s yelling in the second one.

Awwwww!MEOW!

Only fourteen more days of school left (for students)!! I think I have sixteen more days and then….SUMMER VACATION! YIPPIE!!

My Sleeping Cat and Failed Internship

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Pouncy, my adorable, remarkable, kitty is sleeping on my lap as I type. How cool is that?! ^___^

So, I’m the computer lady. I’ve been called everything from Mrs. G to Mrs. T to Mrs. Ashley to Hey Teacher. ^___^ Kids. How funny.

So, as the story goes, I do love my new job. I get to come home early. I don’t spend a lot of time working on school realted things when I come home, nor do I think about it too much. It’s a nice, unknown sort of feeling.

So it is official. I failed my KTIP internship. I got an official letter telling me this in the mail today. I already knew the answer though. I can ask for a formal hearing if I’d like. :P This is all really annoying because…Manlion school was so retarded.

People have spke to me at work more in the past two weeks than anyone at Manlion school I think. Mrs. Sugg, the principal, has been in my room and spoken to me more this week than Mrs. Williams ever did the whole entire year I was at her school. It kind of frustrates me because there is a girl teaching at my school that I went to school with. She went to Western after 2 years at MCC. She’s doing KTIP this year. Today she taught a lesson in the computer lab using the SmartBoard. She was nervous, and who could blame her. But the bottom line is… I’m a better teacher than her! I mean, I don’t want to sound egotistical or anything, but I just feel like Manlion school really screwed me over! I mean, it did! It’s not fair! Grrrrr!

Luckily, I’m getting good reviews at my new job. Mrs. Sugg calls it my computer lab. She asks if I need anything and truly means it. The teachers are great too. I have to do a presentation on the 27th (the day of early dismissal) about a program called Math Facts in a Flash. The teacher who wrote the grant for it told me she and I were responsible to talk about it on the 27th. She said she didn’t want the other teachers to feel like she’s telling them what to do, so I said I’d just do the whole thing. I’m the computer lady. I have authority. ^____^ Anyway, she was happy I said I’d do it and told everyone she was happy. It’s cool.

I got my first paycheck today. It’s about 1/3 the size of my one from Manlion school. I really enjoy my job and don’t mind going to work everyday, so that helps make up for it a bit. It’s so dumb that the art teacher, librarian, p.e. teacher, and music teacher are all “teachers,” and the computer “lady” is considered a CIA (assistant). Mrs. Sugg said she considers me a teacher. I mean, I am. I just don’t get the formal title and bigger paycheck. Why? I don’t know. I guess because technology isn’t covered on “the test.” Neither is library stuff. It’s dumb. Oh well.

I’m not only the school computer lab teacher, I’m also the School Technology Coordinator. Basically, I’m in charge of all the computers in the school, the lab, teaching the students the required technology stuff, doing professional developments for the teachers, administering various assessments, etc. Lots of technological things. It’s fun. ^____^ People call me for help and when I fix their stuff, they think I’m smart. ^_____^

I’m really excited about doing the webpage. The school websites in Hopkins County suck. Period. They’re just….gross and practically useless. I’m trying to make the best darn website ever. ^___^ Mrs. Sugg is letting me do whatever I want (including her own webpage!). It’s fun. Yay for me! ^___^

Hopkins County Stuff

Friday, February 17th, 2006

well, i’m back “home.” “my” closet is full of dresses: my wedding dress, my mom’s dress for when her and my dad renew their vows come august, katee’s wedding dress (i mean, her dress for my wedding), not to mention dying poinsettias, and tons of my mom’s clothes.

so yesterday was kind of crazy. i got to school at 7:20 and left at about 6:20. :P then, i went to wal-mart and bought food for colin. next, i packed up all my stuff, got gas, and left village-land. i got to hopkins county at about… gosh, i don’t know… 10:00 maybe? anyway, it was a long day.

but, the good thing about it all is…. I DIDN’T HAVE TO GO TO MANLION SCHOOL TODAY!!!!!!!

pouncy is fine. pocus is fine. apparently, there’s a new addition to the family- a little tiny black dog whom i have named puzzle (keepin’ the ‘p’ names goin’ here). my dad got him from someone who didn’t want him anymore. he is a corgi, a little black butterball. a little black chunky hot dog with tiny legs. he doesn’t do stairs well. he’s quite cute, and playful too since he’s a puppy. we had an adventure when puzzle went poo in his cage. guess who got to clean it out. yep, yours truly. ^___^;;;

me and katee went to eddyville today. when we got there, we discovered the stores we wanted to go to were no longer there. what a waste. then, on the way back home, my car started being weird. i checked the code for it (’cause i’m smart, and my daddy taught me how to do that), and my dad says it’s probably the EGR valve. sooo… i came home and swapped my blazer for freddy the ford. my parents rented a car for florida.

oh yeah, they called from their 80 degree beach today. they were looking for seashells. meanwhile, i’m here in 30 degree weather cleanin dog poo. *giggles* it hardly seems fair.

it’s supposed to snow tonight. we might get an inch or two. katee’s got a test tomorrow morning for the academic team. last time, she thought she did horrible but she actually ended up getting a medal. she has to be at school at 7:40. :P maybe it’ll snow and be cancelled. ^____^ then i can sleep longer. we’re prolly gonna go to evansville tomorrow and shop for awhile.

flashy is still alive, but she’s looking kind of grungy still. her eyes are all big and cloudy and she looks kind of crusty on her head. she’s getting antibiotics, so hopefully that’ll help. she’s not goin nuts anymore, and she is still eating so yay for that.

i’ve got work to do sometime. ^___^;;;

is it june yet????
