Me - Ashley

Welcome to Rainbow Stuff, cyberhome of... well... me! I'm Ashley - a 25 year old elementary school computer lab teacher from Kentucky. I met my husband online and I love him, strawberry smoothies and my one-eyed cat, Pouncy. This is my blog, personal website, and general collection of my bits of randomness. Rainbows rule. More?

Mail Thiefs

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

I had ordered some Bare Escentuals from QVC back around the 8th or 9th (whenever it was the Today’s Special Value). I ordered their 10 piece kit and also the compact. Well, I got the compact in the mail on 12th I think, and since it was shipped the same day as the other thing I ordered, I expected to receive the second part of my order shortly after. I didn’t.

I finally did some investigating last night. I found my tracking number on QVC.com and found out my package has been sitting at the UPS facility here in my town since June 11th. :P It said that “the customer called and said they would pick it up at their local UPS facility. UPS will hold this item for 5 days.” What??? I was surprised by that. I have called UPS and went to pick things up before if I missed a delivery. They always leave a slip on your door that says they tried to deliver your package and they will try again tomorrow or you can call and pick it up yourself. I never received a slip this time though, and I most certainly did not call them.

Last night all I could get was automated service, so I had to wait until this morning to call and speak to a human. I told them the situation and the guy said my package was there. I went to pick it up, and the lady was a little confused by the situation (after I explained) and said she didn’t know what had happened but that someone must have took my slip and called for me. I’ve lived in my apartment for over two years and I’ve never had anything stolen or any problems with mail or anything. You have to have an ID to pick up packages, so luckily no one actually came and got my package. :P

Anyway, I now have my makeup and I am happy. <3

I also got my 40 tubes of Winsor and Newton watercolor paint I won from Ebay. <3

And… it’s my anniversary. <3 Colin and I are heading down to the lake area shortly. We’re going to spend the night there, have a romantic dinner, etc. :D

P.S. I had my “official” interview yesterday. It went super well. I got the thumbs up. They aren’t interviewing anyone else for first grade, so I pretty much have the job. I should get the “official” answer by Friday though. :)

Quick Update

Monday, June 16th, 2008

I’ve been sort of absent from the online world the past couple of weeks. My blog needs the cobwebs cleared away.

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

* School ended May 30th (summer vacation, yay!)
* I unofficially have a job teaching first grade for the upcoming school year (!!)
* I attended a 2 day training about open response questions
* I spent a day “planning” with the other first grade teachers
* I’ve been shopping a few times
* I’ve been playing with paint
* Watched a few movies
* Colin and I have been playing a lot of Wii (Mario Kart, Wario Ware, and Mario Galaxy)
* Spent Father’s Day with my family playing games and swimming in the pool

Here’s what’s coming up:

* Mine and Colin’s anniversary is this Wednesday, May(I was thinking about Colin’s birthday when I wrote the ‘May’ part previously, thanks Jessica!) June 18th
* Colin’s on vacation this whole week!
* Trip to Nashville
* Trip to Paducah for anniversary
* Mini-golfing, shopping, eating out
* I have to clean the fish tank desperately
* More Nintendo fun (and Nintendo with Katee!)
* Gynecologist appointment July 3rd :P

I have lots going on, and I’ll have lots more going on once I “officially” have this job. I pretty much have it, but I haven’t signed a contract or anything yet. I’m excited though! I’ll be more excited when it’s more official. I’ll be working with two really great first grade teachers (and a special education teacher too). I’ve already seen my class list, and I think it will be a pretty good class. I will have an autistic kid and a mentally handicapped kid in my class, but those two students will have an aid and then I will be working with the special ed. teacher as well. I just wish it was totally “official” so I could start working on my classroom and everything. :)

Other things I need to do:

* Finish adding tea cup trades to my Quilting Bee Quilt.
* Maybe work on a new layout for my quilt
* Upload the school calendar page I made so you can see it :)
* Upload a ton of pictures to Flickr
* Paint more! (I’ve been playing with paint a lot)
* Work on the dollhouse I’m building (well, Colin and I are building)
* Keep exercising!
* Enjoy my summer vacation!

Hopefully it won’t be forever before I blog again. :P I have lots of things I could blog about, but I just haven’t been blogging lately. It’s kind of been nice to have a little break from the internet to be honest. I’m still on here every day, but I am not stressing about my website or blog or anything like that. I have some changes I’d like to make to the site, and I’ll get around to that when I can. I also need to work on the school website and, I’d like to start working on my classroom website once I have a few more things figured out.

Hope everyone out there is having a great summer so far! :)

I’m a Rainbow Girl! (And, a podcast)

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

School is out for the summer in two days. I absolutely cannot wait! :D Today was my last day of having any classes though. The next two days I will spend uninstalling things on the computers, moving around shortcuts and programs, cleaning the computers, backing up files, etc. I also have to work on this year’s calendar image that will go in the district school calendar next year. Last year’s got a lot of attention. I am trying to make this year’s just as good if not better! I am trying a chalkboard theme this year instead of a corkboard. Hopefully it’ll turn out okay. It has to be finished by June 1st!

A lot of talk has been going around about possible teaching positions for next year. I’ve heard a kindergarten job might open, a K/1 job might open, a first grade job might open, etc. So far, the principal hasn’t said anything to me about any of these jobs. I suspect it’s because she doesn’t know people are retiring or trying to transfer as is the case with some of the supposed jobs. I love my job in the computer lab, as many of you know, but I am not paid as a certified teacher. Having a two year break from a regular classroom has been wonderful, but I think I am ready to have my own class again. (The pay increase would also be nice.) I’m just waiting to see what will happen. I guess if it’s meant for me to have my own classroom again, something will open up at my school. Time will tell.

Speaking of school, I finally got a chance to try out podcasting with some third graders! :D It was kind of a rushed thing. It was my first time trying podcasting, so I had to make a few mistakes in order to learn! :) The podcast has some flaws (which of course is going to happen when working with kids!) but for a first time, I think it turned out pretty well! It’s cute too. :D You can download the podcast here to listen to it if you’d like.

Last but not least, Sarah (of Cherry-Pip.net) has created a fanlisting for me! Can you believe it?! I know, I was surprised myself! It was a pleasant surprise though. :) Go visit the fanlisting and check out the colorful layout and rainbowy buttons. And, if you are a fan of me, join the fanlisting! Everyone who joins gets free rainbows! ;) Thanks again to Sarah for being so awesome enough to create a fanlisting for little ol’ me. Maybe this will motivate me to blog more often. :D

Peekaboo!

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Happy Hump Day everyone! :)

I’m finally starting to feel better I think. Two Saturdays ago I got pretty sick. Some stomach virus/flu thing. Once, I got the flu really bad when I was in 5th grade and pretty much puked my guts out for days on end. Every since then, I haven’t been able to throw up when sick. Some people might think this is a good thing. It’s not always really. I mean, sometimes when you’re sick, it makes you feel better to throw up. Well anyway, since I can’t throw up I just sort of gag and get all nauseas and dizzy and stuff. It’s not fun. So when I was sick two Saturdays ago, if I could have thrown up, I would have been throwing up left and right. Instead, I just got to be very nauseas and gaggy and had diarrhea which is another fun treat in itself. I was also extremely achy. Luckily, the Monday was a day off (Martin Luther King day), and the Tuesday brought snow so school was cancelled. I did miss two days of work though. I didn’t go back until last Friday. It’s Wednesday now, and I’m starting to feel more like my old self again, which is definitely nice.

Some news about work- There is this conference I wanted to go to in March. It’s a two day thing, so I’d have to miss two days of work and stay overnight and stuff. I wanted to go because there are a lot of neat workshops that are being offered (some that give you way cool free stuff!) on things I am interested in. The conference workshops are largely technology oriented, but there are other general education ones as well. The main ones I am interested in are the podcasting ones, the animation ones, and the school newspaper/digital camera ones. Anyway, to go to this conference I figured I’d have to use two of my personal days and take off work and pay the conference fee and hotel out of my own pocket. I decided to ask my principal if there was any way I could go to this and be compensated for it. Well, Monday it finally got all sorted out. The budget committee decided that since we’re getting a lot of new technology stuff for our school (mostly document cameras and stuff) that sending me to this conference to learn about new things would be good. So… I get to go and everything is going to be paid for by the school! I even get reimbursed for mileage and all. I’m super excited! I’ve never gone out of town before, by myself, to something like this. I’ve gone to conferences before, but I never had to stay at a hotel by myself or anything like that. I think it’ll be neat though. I just hope I get into the workshops I want. :) So, on March 5 -7 I will be off hopefully having fun and getting free goodies in Louisville.

My new craft experiment: I bought some yellow yarn and Crocheting for Dummies last weekend. A couple of people have told me that the book is a pretty good one for helping to learn how to crochet. I’ve wanted to learn how for awhile now. I also bought this cd-rom that has crochet lessons on it. I tried it out yesterday, and I think it will definitely help a lot! The videos in the lessons are really good, and I guess I am pretty visual about things! Maybe one day I will crochet a masterpiece! Until then… I will practice. :)

Ugh

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

I last updated here on September 25th. :P Shame on me.

I just wanted to post real quick and let everyone know what the scoop is.

I’ve been sick for going on 3 weeks now. I’ve missed 3 days of work, had a week of Fall Break, celebrated Canada Thanksgiving, and went on a mini-vacation with Colin to Chattanooga, Tennessee. I took almost 1000 pictures while in Chattanooga. I hope to upload the pics sometime soon. I have to go back to work on Monday. :P I’m not really looking forward to it. I won’t go into a lot of details about that right now….

I’ve been in a crafty sort of mood. I have so many ideas about things I want to make!! Now all I need is time to do it all in. :P Hopefully, I’ll make some progress with that soon.

Oh, and I’ve pretty much got my new layout finished. I’ve just been tweaking things for a couple of weeks now. Should be totally done soon. *hopefully*

Tonight is the last race of the season for my dad. *crosses her fingers for him* Hopefully he’ll do pretty good. It’s going to get cold tonight though. I’m going to have to bundle up. Hopefully I won’t cough too much and annoy people. I have been coughing so much I annoy myself. :P

This post feels so cheesy! Oh well. My blog. :D

I’m a very busy bee!

Friday, August 10th, 2007

Long time, no type!

I’ve been super busy since schools is back in. (Remember, I work at a local elementary school.) This week I didn’t have any kids come to the lab because I was busy trying to work a Scantron machine, on the phone with Pearson Learning trying to figure out how to use their software, fixing computers, installing software, and the list goes on. Just wanted to type something real quick here to let everyone know that yes, I am alive.

The Quilting Bee has a brand spankin’ new website design up and running. It has tons of new features including member profiles, bee*mail, and more! It’s really super nifty. If you’re into pixelling , you should definitely consider joining! It’s a ton of fun. There’s contests, a most awesome BBS, and great people!

You don’t have to be an amazing pixel artist to join! Really! I can’t pixel very well myself. Anyone can pixel something on a 40×40 patch. Come on! Join! You know you want to! :D

Six Weird Things About Me

Friday, June 8th, 2007

I was tagged by Melissa of Comotized.com with the duty of writing out a list of six weird things about me. I guess there’s probably several weird things about me, but to me they aren’t weird. They’re normal. Anyway, here’s my attempt to create this list.

1. I met my husband on the internet. This is becoming more common these days, of course, but usually when people find out I met my Canadian husband online, they seem to find it a bit fascinating and a little bit more weird. We actually met online in a Yahoo group sort of. I will not reveal the topic of that Yahoo Group. I must keep some level of dignity.
2. I love, LOVE horribly gory movies. My parents can’t believe how much gore I like. I’ve only gotten that way in the past year or two probably. I love when limbs get hacked off and people eat other people and blood and skin fall off people. I don’t really know why. I guess because I get all entranced by it, like :stunned: . Yes, maybe that seems a little gross or messed up to some people, but I find it incredibly visually pleasing to my eyes.

3. I can burp the alphabet. I can pretty much burp on command. I didn’t share this talent with my husband until recently. I sort of forgot about it to be honest. Anyway, it’s pretty funny and usually gives people a laugh. I can burp lots of things, not just the alphabet. The average person who knows me might not expect that.

4. I can bark like various dogs. Apparently, my husband didn’t know of this weird talent of mine until minutes ago. I asked him to help me think of weird thingd about me. I told him I could bark like a dog. So then I did. Several times. My cat woke up and seemed a little freaked out.

5. I once received a phone call from Alice. You know, Alice in Wonderland. Okay, so I am hugely a fan/obsessed with Alice in Wonderland. Mostly it’s the Disney Alice stuff because that’s what you can find merchandise of the most. I love that Cheshire Cat! Anyway, I have a HUGE collection of Alice stuff. Well, when Colin and I went on our honeymoon last year (in July), I was really hoping to see Alice in the UK pavilion at Epcot in Florida. Well, she wasn’t there. Mary Poppins was though, and I love her too! So anyway, I bought all kinds of neat Alice stuff while in Florida and had my picture taken with Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Anyway, to make a long story short, I didn’t get to meet Alice. :( However, my parents and sister went to Florida in October, and they went to Epcot for the first time. (I bought my parents tickets as an anniversary gift.) I told them to look for Alice for me. Well, one day, sitting at home on the comptuer, I get a phone call from my mom. She was at Epcot and said she got to see Alice. I was like :ooh: and very jealous. Well, we said bye. Next thing I know, my phone rang again.

Person on phone: “Hello Ashley?”
Me: Hello??
Person: “Hi! This is Alice. Alice in Wonderland.”
Me: “Oh, hi!”
Alice: “How are you?”
Me: “I’m fine, how’re you?”
Alice: “Oh good, I’m just with your mom here, and she told me that you are a big fan. She wanted me to call you and say hi.”
Me: “Oh, I see!”
Alice: “Alright then, here’s your mom. Nice talking to you. Goodbye.”
Me: “Bye!”

So yeah! I got to talk to Alice on the phone. And, my parents also got to meet the Mad Hatter. They got me his and Alice’s autograph too. :D
6. I had a Rainbow colored wedding. (I bet you can’t believe that. ) So yeah, my wedding was totally colorful. Colin and I made cute party favors and trading cards to give our guests. There were rainbow lights, leis, bubbles, and lots of cute whales. You can see photos and stuff at our website, Rainbow Wedding.

So, that’s it. Six “weird” things about me. Now, since I was tagged, you know what that means! I have to tag people now! I would like to take this opportunity to tag Aimee, Jenn, and Katee.

Feminine Fun

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Well, tomorrow is the big day. That glorious day that comes around once a year where I get to have what looks like plastic salad tongs and a prickly thing inserted into my private parts. Oh yes, tomorrow I get to go to the gynecologist (”Get to” sounds like it’s a privilege or something.). I’ll be having my yearly breast exam and pap smear. I’ll also have to get my perscriptions for my birth control and sleeping medications. I just hope they don’t pull that sneaky trick where they stick their finger up your bum without telling you. (I’ve only had that happen once.)

Trip to the gynecologist

Image from Natalie Dee.

Oh joy, what fun I shall be having tomorrow at 2:45.

Edit: So, I just got back from the doctor. There was a man nurse, and I was semi-freaked out. Usually the nurses stay with the doctor during the actual exam. Luckily, he didn’t stick around. The regular nurse came in for that part. Yay for having prickly things scraping around and cold fingers pushing on my insides.

Big news and fun!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

So, Colin had his big, half-day interview yesterday for the library coordinator position at MCC. After he got home around 3ish, we decided to head on up to Evansville to see Pirates 3 and eat at Boston Pizza. We stopped at the Burger King here in town first, because he hadn’t eaten anything since breakfast and since we weren’t going to eat until after the movie (the long movie). We were getting close to being finished when his phone rang…

… He got the job! Whooo-hoo! :D It was very exciting! I know how super-smart he is, and how professional and I guess they realized too! :) I’m so proud! I think he’ll be really good at it, and everyone is very excited for him. It was good because he got to enjoy the rest of the day without having to worry about how his interview went.

We saw Pirates (got there just in time to see it), and it was, of course, very long. Longer than it really needed to be I think. It was good though. I was confused during some parts of it, but that’s to be expected I think. I’m sometimes not good at following action-type movies with lots of swordfighting. :D We went to Boston Pizza afterwards and had…pizza!

Today was silly because we got all ready to go swimming and walked down the million steps to get to the pool, and there was a chain and lock on the pool gate. :P Apparently the pool pump is broken, so they closed the pool until they get the part they need (which is supposed to be tomorrow). We went to eat supper at my parents’ though, so we swam there (and played Katee’s Wii!).

School’s OUT! Summer is almost here!

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Friday was the last day of school for students. I have to work Monday, but after that… summer vacation! Whoo-hooo!

Friday was insanely busy. I didn’t go into work Friday morning. Friday was Katee’s 8th grade promotion. I can’t believe she is going to be in high school next year. :P It’s crazy. She got her perfect attendance award. I could have NEVER in my life gotten one of those. One kid has had perfect attendance for 8 straight years! :O

After the promotion, Colin and Katee dropped me off at work. Mrs. Carol (one of the custodians) and I set right to work to finish moving all the old Compaq computers to the blue pod hallway. I got so many questions throughout last week about those computers. People still can’t get over the fact that we are crushing them all. Anyway, unhooking computers, moving them all around the school, and stacking them up in piles is hard work. I actually have some bruises on my arm from carrying monitors (I assume). We got most of the computers moved.

When school let out, Colin came and helped me move the computers and tables in the lab. The way the lab was set up was annoying because there was no room on the floor in front of the SmartBoard. This was annoying because I couldn’t get kids seated back there very well (especially the big kids). I had like no floor space in there either. There were rows all over the place. We moved the computers so that, for the most part, they are against the wall. This totally opens up the middle of the floor. The room looks so much bigger and open. We set up some of the tables back to back so it made a little “station.” Colin also fixed all the wiring so that I don’t have to use the annoying plugs in the floor. He used the network hubs that I had in various places. Now kids won’t be as likely to trip over cords because there aren’t any cords plugged into the floor. Mrs. Carol and I moved a few more computers too. I’ll have to finish a few things on Monday.

Colin and I went out to eat that night at O’Charley’s in Hopkinsville. Yum yum. Our waitress was silly, of course. We came home and watched one of our Netflix movies. A Japanese movie about these two little boys who wanted a tv, and their parents wouldn’t buy one. So…the boys decided not to talk anymore. The youngest boy was retty cute. :)
I never have heard anything else about my “illegal job.” I guess no news is good news. I’m sure the district made up some B.S. about what CIA’s in the computer lab do. Lies. :P Oh well, not my problem anymore (I hope).

I have to go through all my forms so I will be ready to place them on computers and tables tomorrow. I hope I get all of that sorted out. I also have to figure out where these three Compaqs are going that we have to keep. I’m sure I have that in my inventory somewhere…

My smilies aren’t validating. I installed the Custom Smilies plugin, and liked it until I found out it doesn’t give a alt attribute to the smilies. I tried to go and edit that bit of code myself, but it didn’t work. I’ll have to find another smiliey plugin soon. Any recommendations? I’m also working on some modifcations to my layout or possibly a new layout. :D
Okay, enough. I am hungry. My stomach is saying so. Literally.

Careers and Green Cards

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

I am exhausted. I have been all week. It’s probably the fast that spending two weeks covering a first grade class has caught up with me, mixed with a cold I think I’m getting. Either way, I am so incredibly tired.

The school year’s almost over which means it’s that time of year again where I worry about next year’s job. :P I’m trying not to worry. I really am. Sometimes it’s hard though.

The county I worked in posted eight teaching jobs that will be available for next school year. I’m not really excited by this. I feel like I should be jumping all over these opportunities, but I feel discouraged for a number of reasons. First, I know (well, I feel pretty certain) that several of the positions have already been filled and are just being posted as a formality. Second, I don’t really care too much for any of the schools that have open jobs right now. Third, the idea of working in another new place for the third year in a row bothers me.

I just wish I had an “established” career. I know it takes years to settle into a job, but I’m really tired of constantly having to move all my stuff around from place to place. I finally found a school I feel totally comfortable at. People like me. They value what I do for them. I am appreciated. I can’t say any of those things about my teaching job last year.

I guess I just have this fear of turning into someone who hates their job but continues to work at it for their whole life. I really like what I’m doing right now. Yes, I get paid way less than I should be, but I enjoy it. It’s fun. I’m good at it, and people recognize that I am good at it. Is money more important than happieness? Well, sometimes it seems that way!! Sometimes I feel like I’m being lazy by wanting to keep my computer lab job instead of being a teacher. Sometimes I feel like I’d be wasting my degree by sticking with my computer lab job, or that I’m being selfish. I could really use the tons more money I’d make from being a teacher.

It’s not that I don’t ever want to be a teacher again. I’m just still really “traumatized” over the Lexington thing. :P It’ll take a long time to really get over that. That’s why I really like my job now. Everyone is nice to me. I’m doing a good job, and everyone lets me know. I feel….important as cheesy as that may sound. Lots of people have told me that perhaps the Board of Education might want to snatch me up for their Technology Department there. I don’t know if that’d ever really happen, or if that’s something I’d be interested in. I just don’t know…. :P
On another note, Colin found on on….Tuesday, I think, that he was finally approved for his Green Card. We’ve been waiting forever to hear about it. We had our interview in July or August of last year (I think, Colin can and will correct me if I’m wrong) and we were told his FBI background check hadn’t been completed yet. I made Colin call and talk to someone about it a couple of weeks ago. So now we just have to wait for the Green Card that’s not really Green to come in the mail. :) That’s one less thing to worry about now! Yay!

Why I Blog

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

I was tagged by Bubs. (I’ve never been tagged before! Ah!)

I started blogging back in the spring of 2001. I had a blog I wrote in daily (sometimes more than once) from about 2001 - 2003 (or 4). For awhile, I went blogless. Eventually I picked my LiveJournal back up but didn’t blog faithfully. That was a stressful time in my life. I was teaching in Lexington, having a miserable time.

I’ve only been using WordPress since March. So far, I’m loving everything about it!

So, why do I blog? Well, for a variety of reasons I guess. It’s personally satisfying. It’s fun. Relaxing. A good way to keep my online friends aware of what’s going on in my life.

And I’d like to tag…. Jenn, Jessica, and Arien. :D

Being an Old Lady

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Sometimes I feel like an old lady. Like, seriously. I have so many health related issues. Granted, none of them are serious, so I am thankful for that. At this moment my head and neck hurt, my left ankle and foot have been sore for a few days (it hurts to walk on it, no idea what I did), my eyes feel sore, I have a feminine issue, and I’m tired. It could be much worse of course. It’s just silly sometimes how “old” my body feels. I’m 24 years old for crying out loud! Oh well. This probably sounds dramatic.

I joined StumbleUpon and installed the Firefox toolbar. I’ve found some cool sites so far. This one is pretty neat. It’s an interactive web radio. You choose the genres you like, and then click on a mood, and it gives you a random song. :D It’s fun to play with, and colorful! Check it out!

Back to the same old, same old

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Well, my spring break has official come to an end. I am now back to work doing the usual thing: testing, testing, testing. :P
There are only like 25 school days left, which is unbelievable. I’m glad it’s almost summer, but sort of sad because it means I it’s back to time about worrying about a job again. Someday I hope to not have to worry about having a job. Until that day- I’ll worry. It still looks like there won’t be any positions available at my school. Now, I could keep my computer lab job (which I do really love). Everyone at work would be really happy if I stayed in the lab because I’m so good at what I do, and I really do help the teachers with anything they need. My principal would love to have me stay in the lab too, but she knows I need to make more money and that I didn’t go to school for four years to just be an assistant with assistant’s pay. SHe’s said she will write me awesome letters of recommendation if I need to try to find a job at another school. I’m tired of moving around to different schools. I wish I could just find one and stick with it for a good long while. Who knows what’ll happen. Worst-case scenario is that I’m stuck with my computer lab job again next year still being underpaid.

So over spring break I saw a couple of movies, read a book, played a lot of Nintendo DS (mostly Tamagotchi Corner Shop 2 and Cake Mania), and played games and hung out with Colin and his parents. We all went down to Bowling Green on Friday night and stayed at the lovely Holiday Inn there. On Saturday, we woke up and went to the Lost River Cave. I like caves. This was the one where you take a little boat ride through the cave. A very short boat ride actually. I wish it had been longer, but I guess it was as long as it could be.

I’m writing this at work. Shame on me. I don’t have a class right now. The next class is coming in at 11:40, and I will have to explain to them how this test works that they’re going to be taking. Fun, fun, fun.

EDIT: Well, the principal just came and went over my evaluation with me. I got all threes (threes are the highest). She also wrote:

Mrs. Magee demonstrates superior technology skills. She maintains a commendable attitude of responsibility and loyalty for the school, faculty, and students.

She went on to tell me that I am the best computer lab person she’s ever had. She also said the school website has never ever looked so awesome. She’ll be supportive if I look for a job somewhere else, and she’ll let me keep my lab position of course. I’ve been watching the job register for weeks now. No jobs are being posted yet. People are beginning to find out if they still have a job for next year. At my school, for example, one of the interns is being let go. A special ed. teacher is being let go too. I know a girl (well, woman) I went to school with is not being hired back either. Lots of teachers who are being let go will need jobs. New graduates will want jobs. At least I do have a position secured for next year if all else fails. Guess I need to start making some decisions.

Happy Days After Easter!

Since I didn’t get a chance to post on Easter, I hope everyone had a great one! I wish it had been warmer here, but it was okay. Lots of goodies, and candy, and turkey! Yummmmmy!! My cousin Shannon ended up having to go to the hospital. He had some red streaks on his arm. My aunt, a nurse, said, “That looks like blood poisoning! Go to the doctor!” So, my other aunt (his mom) took him and sure enough, it was blood poisoning. Nothing too serious though. He’ll be fine.

There were 25 people at the Easter dinner at Grandpa’s. It’s always so full on a holiday. Abby, Katee, and I all played Animal Crossing Wild Word and visited each others towns. It was fun. We played a lot of Nintendo DS, and we put a real easy puzzle together. There was an egg hunt. I didn’t watch the kids hunt eggs. I was a little upset that the eggs Colin and I had decorated were being thrown away. You see, we left them out all night long. My aunt (the nurse) was convinced we’d all get salmonella if we ate those eggs. So, she threw them in the trash. :P
I wish it’d hurry up and get warmer. I want to go play Jungle Golf sometime during my break…

Oh yeah, I got my hair done yesterday. :P So, I’ve been wanting to get my hair re-permed since my curls were growing out BIG time. I’m happy with the way the curls turned out (especially my bangs), but the girl cut too much of my hair off. It’s like to the top of my shoulders. I am so not used to this. Now I feel like I have this big puff of hair next to my ears. :x I suppose eventually I will get used to it, but I am sad and miss my old, long hair. :(
Well, time to get my day started I guess. Pouncy says, “Meow, meow, MEOW!”
