Paula Abdul’s Stupid Comment
Wednesday, January 21st, 2009Tonight’s episode of American Idol led the judges to Louisville, Kentucky. One of the contestants had an absolutely horrible audition and on the way out of the room, he told the judges to “Be careful.” Paula Abdul looked sort of offended and proceeded to tell the man that “That’s not something you say to people…” The man kept saying, “I was just telling you to be careful wherever you go” or something to that effect. Paula then said she was getting on the plane tonight and leaving. Like, she seriously took it as the man was threatening her.
Wake up Paula. People in Kentucky are nice, caring people who simply tell people to “be careful” when they leave. It’s not a threat. It is sincere! Doesn’t everyone want people to be careful? She would probably freak out if she heard someone say, “What’s your hurry off?”
My Canadian husband tells me another weird Kentucky saying is “I don’t care to.” For example:
Person: Are you sure you want to help me with this?
Me: I don’t care to.
Apparently some people out there would interpret that to mean “I don’t want to” whereas I would interpret that as “I don’t mind.”
Language is weird. What weird things do you say?
