Mail Thiefs

Date Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Clock 1:01 pm ()

I had ordered some Bare Escentuals from QVC back around the 8th or 9th (whenever it was the Today’s Special Value). I ordered their 10 piece kit and also the compact. Well, I got the compact in the mail on 12th I think, and since it was shipped the same day as the other thing I ordered, I expected to receive the second part of my order shortly after. I didn’t.

I finally did some investigating last night. I found my tracking number on QVC.com and found out my package has been sitting at the UPS facility here in my town since June 11th. :P It said that “the customer called and said they would pick it up at their local UPS facility. UPS will hold this item for 5 days.” What??? I was surprised by that. I have called UPS and went to pick things up before if I missed a delivery. They always leave a slip on your door that says they tried to deliver your package and they will try again tomorrow or you can call and pick it up yourself. I never received a slip this time though, and I most certainly did not call them.

Last night all I could get was automated service, so I had to wait until this morning to call and speak to a human. I told them the situation and the guy said my package was there. I went to pick it up, and the lady was a little confused by the situation (after I explained) and said she didn’t know what had happened but that someone must have took my slip and called for me. I’ve lived in my apartment for over two years and I’ve never had anything stolen or any problems with mail or anything. You have to have an ID to pick up packages, so luckily no one actually came and got my package. :P

Anyway, I now have my makeup and I am happy. <3

I also got my 40 tubes of Winsor and Newton watercolor paint I won from Ebay. <3

And… it’s my anniversary. <3 Colin and I are heading down to the lake area shortly. We’re going to spend the night there, have a romantic dinner, etc. :D

P.S. I had my “official” interview yesterday. It went super well. I got the thumbs up. They aren’t interviewing anyone else for first grade, so I pretty much have the job. I should get the “official” answer by Friday though. :)

Dodgy! It’s lucky they have that ID thing in place. Over here, couriers tell you to take ID but they never seem to actually check it.

Have a nice evening with Colin :3

Yes! No one gets in the way of a woman and her Bare Minerals, haha. That’s so weird though. Thank goodness you got there first to get your package.

Happy Anniversary to you and Colin! Yay!

I love ordering things on QVC and online, but I hate the entire shipping process. And, if you or the company ruins your order, it’s always such a hassle to get send it back or for them to re-mail it. It is stupid most of the time. But, I don’t like going to the mall all that much, so I shouldn’t complain.

Bare Escentuals has the best make-up ever! I love their eye shadow.

Happy Anniversary! I hope you two have fun at the lake.

And, good luck with the job position.

The mail theft sounds scary! Lukcily your package didn’t got stolen… I remembered that when my aunt mailed some souvenirs from abroad and my family happened to be on vacation. When we got to know about the postage, the clerk at the post office told us that someone has collected the package on our behalf… that is stupid. They didn’t even bother to check for that persons ID or whatnots.

Your interview sounded great! I hope you’ll snag the job :) heheh! Good luck!

That’s great that your stuff wasn’t actually stolen. And congrats on the job! In another year or two I will be the one looking for a teaching position. That’s scary haha.

Eek, make sure that you keep an eye on your bank accounts/etc. if you think that your mail was stolen: our outgoing mail was stolen from our mailbox awhile back, and the thieves used the information on the checks to get new checks made and spent several thousand dollars with my parents’ info. After we got a hold and fraud alert placed on the accounts, they stole my mom’s identity and were masquerading around town, checking into hotels with known cocaine dealers… But that’s not the worst part. The cops had no idea that the person that was doing this wasn’t actually my mom, so some bounty hunters from the police department came to our house with a warrant in my mom’s name for “harboring criminals” - and she (or us, for that matter) had no idea what was going on! We kinda laugh about it now, and the cops/bounty hunters that came to our house laughed about it, too, once they found out what had happened.

I’m not making any of this up, I swear. I don’t want to scare you but it’s better to be on the safe side. There’s been rampant mail theft around my city and apparently it’s quite a business.

Anyway, congrats on the job. I imagine teaching first graders would be very fun :)

Bare Escentuals is my favorite makeup… pretty much all I use! Mineral veil is amazing <3

Weird about your mail, though! My parents have a business that sends a whole lot through UPS and the postal service, so the carriers know who they are… we also live in a fairly small town, so I guess you could consider things a little bit safer…

Glad you got your job :) I love first graders.

Blah! People are lame. That’s one thing that sucks about apartment buildings, sometimes deliveries also just get left by your door and then anyone can grab them. :( Glad you got your makeup though, I LOVE Bare Minerals! :D

Hope your anniversary day went great! :D

    I SO HAPPY 4 JOO 4 TEACHING! :D :D :D

I love online shopping but waiting for it, the delivery/mail process and customs really nags you out sometimes.

At least it feels like Christmas every time a package arrives… especially if they arrive all at the same time!

Those people at QVC are so scary. Not really the people, but those weird ladies who try to sell you makeup. They creep me out. Glad everything worked out in the end.
