I’m a Rainbow Girl! (And, a podcast)

School is out for the summer in two days. I absolutely cannot wait!
Today was my last day of having any classes though. The next two days I will spend uninstalling things on the computers, moving around shortcuts and programs, cleaning the computers, backing up files, etc. I also have to work on this year’s calendar image that will go in the district school calendar next year. Last year’s got a lot of attention. I am trying to make this year’s just as good if not better! I am trying a chalkboard theme this year instead of a corkboard. Hopefully it’ll turn out okay. It has to be finished by June 1st!
A lot of talk has been going around about possible teaching positions for next year. I’ve heard a kindergarten job might open, a K/1 job might open, a first grade job might open, etc. So far, the principal hasn’t said anything to me about any of these jobs. I suspect it’s because she doesn’t know people are retiring or trying to transfer as is the case with some of the supposed jobs. I love my job in the computer lab, as many of you know, but I am not paid as a certified teacher. Having a two year break from a regular classroom has been wonderful, but I think I am ready to have my own class again. (The pay increase would also be nice.) I’m just waiting to see what will happen. I guess if it’s meant for me to have my own classroom again, something will open up at my school. Time will tell.
Speaking of school, I finally got a chance to try out podcasting with some third graders!
It was kind of a rushed thing. It was my first time trying podcasting, so I had to make a few mistakes in order to learn!
The podcast has some flaws (which of course is going to happen when working with kids!) but for a first time, I think it turned out pretty well! It’s cute too.
You can download the podcast here to listen to it if you’d like.
Last but not least, Sarah (of Cherry-Pip.net) has created a fanlisting for me! Can you believe it?! I know, I was surprised myself! It was a pleasant surprise though.
Go visit the fanlisting and check out the colorful layout and rainbowy buttons. And, if you are a fan of me, join the fanlisting! Everyone who joins gets free rainbows!
Thanks again to Sarah for being so awesome enough to create a fanlisting for little ol’ me. Maybe this will motivate me to blog more often.

You’re very welcome. It’s my pleasure to create you a fanlisting.
Let’s hope you get a chance to teach in your own classroom. Being a teacher sounds good, but it seems so stressful. I’m not sure if I could ever be a teacher. I’ll just stick to trying to grab a web development job. Hehe.

Oh forgot to say that podcast is so cute.

Woots it’s summer break again
it’ll be an excellent time for you to unwind and get some rest, after rushing yourself for the calender image’s submission deadline! Last year’s calendar image is definitely awesome, it’s a shame that not every school is putting in a considerable amount of effort into creating one that is half as fantastic as yours! And congratulations for being fanlisted!p/s: I’ve downloaded the podcast… and gosh, it’s nice!!!

Good luck on hopefully getting one of those teaching jobs, it sounds like it would be a great opportunity for you.
I’ll have to download and listen to the podcast when I get home from work, but I bet it’s awesome. Podcasting is fun to do.

I can’t wait to see your calendar image this year. I loved yours last year & I know this years will be just as good or better.
I hope you get your teacher post that you want. Please keep me updated. I will be sending you an email shortly. I found something tonight & thought you might be interested. But you will have to wait until I get the project finished. It is a present.

I love your site! Sometimes I wish I could be a teacher just so I could get summer vacation. Congrats on doing the podcasting! Sounds like a lot of work but I bet it paid off. Good luck on getting your own class again too.

I hope you got the image for the calander done in time. The one from last year does look really great.
Maybe you should bring something up to the p about an actual classroom job. He might not know you would like to.

Yay for school being out and summer being here!
And the world needs more teachers, it seriously does. If we’re going to help contribute to the next generation, what better way than to actually teach them?
-
Yay for having a break from learning haha,
Goodluck with the teaching job. If it’s meant to happen it definitely will
I’m at work at the moment, but I’ll definitely have a listen to the podcast sometime when I’m back at home hehe, I love podcasts right now, so much interesting stuff floating around
