I Hate Sunday

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Sunday is my least favorite day of the week for a few reasons. First, it’s the first day of the week which means my lovely weekend is over. It also means that the next day I have to go to work. I don’t really mind work. I’d just be happy to not have to go and still get paid though. :D Secondly, I hate Sunday because Sunday is the day of the week Colin and I get groceries. I absolutely despise buying groceries. We used to buy our groceries at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is insane on Sundays. We’ve been buying our groceries for Kroger for well over… two years now? It’s as busy as Wal-Mart now! :P Sunday is also a day for doing various chores. Fun.

I’m still working on my new theme for my site. It’s coming along very nicely. I was hoping to have it up by the end of the week (so, by today), but it’s not going to happen. I’ve still got a lot left to do. I didn’t get to work on any of it at work this week because I was so busy at work. I still have one major section to work on (the Hobbies section) and various other little things to tweak here and there. So, no new theme for me this week. Melissa and Tracy, however, have their new themes up so go check them out. :) My new completion goal is next weekend.

I’ve been making a lot of things to offer on my website including some icons and smilies and stuff. It’s been really relaxing to set and make little icons at work while the kids are working. I made 126 icons in one day the other day!

The bad weather we had on Tuesday did end up being really bad. It wasn’t so bad where I live, but in the next county over (about 20 miles away) they had some severe weather. A few people died and houses and trailers were destroyed. The schools and college there were closed all week. A state of emergency was called there too.

Well, I guess I should get back to working on my site or cleaning or something. Hopefully I won’t be as busy this week at work like I was last week. Last week was pretty chaotic!

Lame Day

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

It’s kind of been a lame day.

It started out pretty good. I took Colin to work (we’ve been carpooling- my transmission died at the end of last week), got to school, started making some cute webicons. I made 125 icons at work today in total. I was enjoying myself. The kids were well behaved. Then, about 11:00 things got chaotic.

The printer in the gold pod messed up. I had to look at it, dismantle it, and get myself all covered in the toner that was leaking everywhere. It’s almost like it’s getting too hot because there were big lumps of sticky melted toner all over everything and it gets on the pages when printing. Well, I couldn’t fix the problem. I then proceeded to have cramps. :P So then I had to worry about setting up the 4th grade computers (all 18 of them) to print to the library instead of the gold pod. Portfolio season you know. I got back to my room just in time for the kindergarteners to arrive. One of them asked me if my fish was dead. (I took Techie back to school on Monday). I said, “No! She’s just resting. She loves hanging out at the bottom.” It’s true- Techie loves to hang out down there a lot. Well, the kids went to their seats, and I got to looking, and sure enough…. Techie was dead. :( I don’t know what happened, but I think she must have been sick.

So next I start worrying about how I’m going to handle that. I decided that after the two kindergarten classes leave, I’ll scoop Techie out of the tank before the second graders come in. The second graders didn’t know Techie was back, so I wouldn’t have to answer any questions. Well, the last kindergarten class I had- the teacher was late picking up her kids. I didn’t think I’d have time to take care of getting Techie out of her tank. The teacher finally showed up, but by this time there were 5 4th graders in the lab typing portfolio pieces. I waited until they weren’t looking, and then I scooped Techie out of her tank and into a container with my bare hands. I had to. I had no net in the lab! How disturbing! I sat the tank on the floor behind my desk, and luckily the second graders didn’t ask where it was.

Of course I am going to have to tell the kids Techie died, but I didn’t want to deal with that today. :(

Meanwhile, right now there is a storm raging outside. Well, sort of. It’s thundering and raining. We have a tornado watch until midnight. It was like 70 degrees today! It’s insane! I guess there were some tornadoes around Hopkins County (where I live). Some people in a trailer died. Bad stuff. I hope it calms down and the weather radio doesn’t go off all night. I also hope my day at work is better tomorrow.
