Private: Fast Food Mess-Ups

So, this irritates me.
When I go to a fast food place and order my food a specific way, if the employees mess up my order and I have to take the time to park my car, go inside, and complain, why don’t they let me keep the food they messed up? Or better yet, why don’t they give that food to some needy person? People are starving on the streets. Why do they just chuck it into the trash can? That is such a waste.
Back in the day, if they messed up your food, they’d let you keep the messed up food. I mean, it’s their fault. It’s just going in the trash anyway. I’ll never forget one time I was at a McDonald’s and ordered a Happy Meal with no pickles or with mayonaise or something. They didn’t get my order right. I took them my Happy Meal bag, and they threw the whole thing away! The toy and everything!! There was nothing wrong with my fries or toy! And it was those collectable Disney figures too!
And why are places so skimpy on the french fries? I mean, if you’re going to give them to be in a box, fill the box up all the way, not halfway! I got a large fry, and I swear I think what they did was fill up a medium box and dump it into the large one!
And why are places decreasing their portion sizes but not their prices? And why does the “healthy” fast food options cost so much more?
Does this bug anyone else?

You tawkin’ my favorite rant, m’dawlin!!! teehee
Okay…you go to a fast food joint, and order something that you need a spoon or fork to eat it with, and you get where you’re going…no spoon, no fork, not even a lowly spork. Or no straw for your drink. Usually, it’s not the end of the world, but when I take lunch to friends at work, who likes eating their salad with their fingers? Not everyone has a lunchroom with eating utensils provided.
Oh, and crappy service. KFC wins the award, hands down for that one. I don’t know if it’s the same all over, but around here, they only handle one customer at the window at a time. And by the time you get there, your drink has been sitting and diluting for a few minutes while they take forever to get the rest of your order together.
My last experience at KFC was a doozy. I ordered two things, one of which was a pot-pie. I had to wait a few minutes on the pot-pie, so I pulled out to the side like they asked. The rest of the order was with me, getting cold (it took about 12 minutes before they came out with the pot-pie), and the drinks melting. The girl comes out with my potpie in a bag, holding the bag by the top! Freakin’ DUH!!! I had to pull back around to the window (I was in my nightgown and robe…LOL…so I couldn’t go inside), asked for the manager, handed her the bag and asked her “Did you train her to do it that way, or is she just stupid?” The manager asked what was wrong with it, and I told her the way I handed it to her was the way the girl carried it out to the car to me. She looked inside, saw it was a pot-pie, and had to laugh. She apologized profusely, called the girl over, opened the box and showed her that the potpie was now a box and bag pie, that she had to carry it flat. She gave me a fresh pie, and then signed her name on my receipt with “Free pot-pie” and gave it back to me for my next visit.

Ahh! I hate not getting a straw in my bag! My husband and I always check our bag before leaving somewhere because a few times we’ve not gotten enougn food!
I don’t eat at KFC much, but I can totally imagine them being dumb about things. And I HATE when they leave your drink sitting there! Or when they just leave your food sitting there for awhile too. It’s so close, but so far!
And it’s so silly when you complain about the food and they give you a coupon for - you guessed it - more messed up food!!

I never get straws, I never get condiments, when asked for by the way, my fries are always skimped, my sandwich always wrong, the order taker always rude or what have you and then some. Now, my first job ever was back in 1999. I worked at Arby’s. I had a blast. And our evaluations only came out 100% on register, drive through and cooking only when I was working, and I’m not tooting my own horn. I have always been the best at customer service that I can be. And I also know that, when you’ve worked in a fast food joint for 10 hours straight and your back hurts and your hair is greasy and you’re hungry and exhausted, it’s hard to keep up a cheerful face while making sure to get everything correctly. But, you remember, that that is your job and you get paid to do exactly that. This is why I refuse to eat at our Hardee’s and McDonald’s that is closest to me. The people there are rude, skimpy and half of them can’t speak english!

I completely agree with all your complaints in this post
lol You know, if I worked in fast food I’d be the best employee eveeeer! But sadly, I haven’t stooped that low in my professional career yet
Ah, well… -
Hey! I know what you mean. When I go to Taco Bell they always, always, mess up on my order! They also take the food as well but they put it in this bus tub thingy. I think they take the food so they don’t think you are trying to rip of them off. But its stupid I agree.
-
Yeah it does annoy me, that’s why I hardly ever go to McDonalds, they always screw things up, or the food is cold.
-
Oh yes I hate the service at fast food places as well. I never ever go to them anymore. I think the people serving are rude and most of them show that they would rather be somewhere else.
I believe you should take pride in your work no matter what it is. I mean my mom spend 25 years cleaning toilets, how fun could that have been. But yet she always took pride in her work.
Last time I went to Mcdonalds I got a milshake that was more cold milk with taste than anything else. I complained, and the person told me it was fine when I got it, but it must have been the change in temperature that caused it to melt. I looked out the window and it was freaking snowing outside -
hey this is completely off topic and you can delete the comment later but I wanted to thank you for your recent comment on my site and tell you that I am very thankful to have found you! *hugs*
By the way, I replied to it and left you all kinds of questions, hehe…you need a shoutbox

It’s like at my work, if I get somebodies drink order wrong, I’m meant to tip it away. 9/10 if none of the managers are looking, I’ll give it to someone, I don’t like wasting perfectly good stuff!
-
I agree with what everyone has been mentioning. And I’m glad to hear that Arien and Carly care about customer service.

Heidi: I agree. You *should* take pride in whatever you do and really put effort into it.Jenn: Awwww.
You’re welcome. I replied with lots of info.
And, I added a CBox to my sidebar. Don’t know if I’ll keep it, but I’m giving it a go! -
-nods-
I agree. They should make more healthy choices, and make it cost less. Maybe then, people will say “Oh, that costs less” and buy it =/ -
When I was in high school I worked at MC Donalds. The reason why they dont let you keep the food is because they can’t let you keep something you didn’t pay for. Or else other people would abuse it.
And the reason why they cant give it to the home less because they were once suide by a homeless guy because he got sick off of the food. They had no proof that he faked it or planned it.
So thats the policy that most fast food places follow.
-
When I was a little kid we where so poor that the Jack & The Box my aunt worked in saved all the good ‘bad’ food got kept for us kids. They also used to save food for the homeless. But if you do it now you get fired & I was told can even get fined by the city. I dunno if that is true though. When worked at McD’s we had to throw all food away.
-
@Kay: But you DO pay for the food. They just mess it up. When you have your car worked on and the person doesn’t fix it right, you take it back to them to work on it again. They don’t take your car and throw it away do they? No! That’s ridiculous! When someone is at fault for something, they should be willing to make it right. The customer is always right you know. And if places want to keep their customers happy, they should be willing to let people keep the food that they themselves messed up in the first place. It’s just going in the trash anyway.
They give you a receipt of what you ordered. It has on the receipt at most places, what things you wanted or removed from your order. You can’t very well abuse anything. If you ordered your hamburger with mayonaise and they give you a totally plain cheeseburger, all you have to do is show them the receipt of what you ordered and show them how dumb they are for getting it wrong.@Jessica: That is how it used to be, you’re right. Places always used to let you keep the food when they messed it up. It’s just so dumb now.
-
What I dislike the most is that all food that is healthier is in general more expensive. No wonder people are eating so much junk food. And throwing away food is really stupid, they could at least ask you if you mind getting the wrong order, not everyone freaks out over some extra pickles.
-
Exactly why DOES healthy food cost so much more!! When I asked that about organic food it was explained to me that it takes more work (manual labor, real people) to produce organic food than it does to just spray it with pesticides. So all of that needs to be covered in the price.
I think it’s just someone’s evil sneaky plan to evoke “survival of the fittest” ideals! All the rich people who can afford organic food will live longer and all us people who WORK and scrimp and save will just vanish…well, maybe not our waistlines, at this point…

-
Well, I guess that kind of makes sense with the organic food. I mean, it’s dumb, but it makes some sense.
But why does a grilled chicken sandwich have to cost more than a regular chicken sandwich? Why does a wrap or a salad or a sandwich cost more than a burger?!
