Me - Ashley

Welcome to Rainbow Stuff, cyberhome of... well... me! I'm Ashley - a 26 year old elementary school first grade teacher from Kentucky. I met my husband online and I love him, strawberry smoothies and my one-eyed cat, Pouncy. This is my blog, personal website, and general collection of my bits of randomness. Rainbows rule. More?

Spring is Here!

Date Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Clock 9:27 am ()

It’s Saturday! I’ve felt pretty productive so far. I woke up (or, I got out of bed I should say) at 8:15 which is remarkable for me. I’m so not a morning person. Working at a schools means I have to be up early though, and I have gotten used to the time change now. Plus, Pouncy wakes us up at like 5 am every day wanting food or to be played with. Silly girl. Anyway, I got up, rode the exercise bike for awhile, ate breakfast, played some Nintendo DS, and now I’m writing this. In a little while, I’m going to go do some Easter shopping probably. I love cute, colorful, plastic eggies!

The weeks have been flying by lately. There are only 10 school days left before Easter and Spring Break. There are only 35 school days left in this school year! I can’t believe it! Of coruse, the ending of the school year means I need to think about what I’m going to be doing next year. I’d love to get a teaching job at the school I’m at now. I really love my computer lab job, but it’s only a CIA position so I don’t make the money an actual “teacher” does.

Speaking of school, I had my first pornography incident this week. I got a call from the principal on…Tuesday I think it was. She said a 4th grader was in SOS because he had looked at pornography on the internet in his classroom. She wanted me to get the asset tag number off the computer and email the appropriate people at the board office. She also asked if there was a way to tell where he went to. Well, of course there is. I told her I’d check the history and let her know what sites the boy had been to. The boy (who is a total mess, smooth talker, mom’s in jail, steals, etc.) said he was looking up sports on Google and found the site(s) by mistake. I went to check the computer. At first, I didn’t find anything because I logged onto the computer as him and checked his history. Turns out, he was using the generic school login when he did this. So, I checked the history. It wasn’t an accident he found the porn. He went to several different search engines and typed in the url for the site. He knew what he was looking for. His teacher was kind of irritated that all he was getting was SOS (which is like in-school detention/suspension) and wasn’t getting a heavier punishment. Then, the teacher next door told me that she had two (trustworthy, well-rasied) students who had found some porn by mistake. They went to Google Images (which wasn’t blocked that day :o )and searched for pictures of hawks for a portfolio piece they are writing. Well, I guess some pictures of a skanky woman in bed came up. I couldn’t find what they found because Google Images is not blocked again by the filter. I’m surprised I haven’tt had issues before now.

The weather has been great lately. Sunny, warm, light breezes. It’s lovely! 8) Today, the plan is that Colin and I have a picnic somewhere, play some catch (with my pink and purple glove), and see The Hills Have Eyes 2. We’ve also got our other Netflix movie to watch too. If we’re going to do all of that, AND I’m going to go shopping, I need to go get changed and get started!!

Yeah well I’ve been outside trying to work on my talent show thing but it’s too windy. Lucky! I’d love to go on a picnic….Any idea when Maggie’s Jungle Golf opens? :? Also–I noticed before your cutenews messed up you used your cloud smileys. How can I add my own smileys to it? :?

It’s pretty easy. You have to upload them to the smiley folder in your cutenews directory. Then, you have to go into your admin under options (or something) and you’ll see a list of smilies. Probably listed like smiley1.gif or something. You just add the names of your smiley images you uploaded to the folder. Make sense?? I didn’t explain it very clearly probably.

Anyway, we should talk about WordPress sometime. It’s really very easy! I think it would be good for you! :D
Colin called Maggie’s. They don’t open until Spring Break (which is soon!). We didn’t go on a picnic today. We’ll probably go tomorrow instead.
