It’s November already…

Well, I had my first three observations. Two lessons went really well (I feel like). One was okay, but it was sort of dumb (-mostly because of the person who was observing me. I won’t mention any names.). Anyway, I had my second committee meeting. That took forever. My whole planning period was wasted with me sitting in the office while everyone was talking about me without me. It took so long that Mrs. Huff had to go cover my class when they got back from specials, and I missed most of my lunch.
The meeting went fairly well. It’s just weird having three people sit around in the prinicpal’s office and talk about you while wait outside for over an hour. Oh well. It’s over.
School’s been going okay I guess. Some of my kids are really starting to annoy me, but that’s expected I guess. One of them is a mess. He was constantly misbehaving and moving his name down. The last two weeks or so, I’ve been trying to be more positive with him. (After I had to read this book called “Whale Done”). Anyway, it was working for awhile. Then, Friday ke was doing cartwheels in my room, beating his head, and saying he hated himself and wanted to kill himself. So, when the rest of the class went to computer lab, I kept him behind and talked to him. He told me that he was in a bad mood because his mom woke him up in the middle of the night and made him stay awake and wouldn’t let him sleep. And that his sister threw a screwdriver at his head and scissiors at his chest. And that he can’t hear his mom so he’s going to the doctor to have an x-ray.
… well, he WAS going to the doctor- to a therapist. Apparently the therapist thinks the mom needs more help than the boy. It is a messed up situation, but I think it’s ridiculous the lady is trying to get her son some help and the therapist seems more concerned with her. I mean, should second graders really be saying they want to kill themselves??
I’m starting to get sick I think. I’m taking like 12 pills a day. (Well, maybe not 12. It seems like a lot though.) Hopefully I won’t have to miss school and/or pass out this time.
Tomorrow I’m going to a PD at another school. It’s about phonics. The PD filled up and people were even on a waiting list. Mrs. Williams managed to get me in somehow though. I need all the PD I can get about this Reading First stuff. Mrs. Huff’s been meeting with me a lot. She says I’m doing a great job and that I have improved a whole lot which is nice to hear. I took Colin to the school Friday afternoon so he could help me hang some things on my walls, and I think my room looks better now. Or, it’s like Mrs. Huff wants anyway.
Yesterday Colin, my family, and I went shopping at Louisville. They came on Friday and left yesterday. Colin got his hair cut. (I hate when that happens.) We went to eat at Cracker Barrel. What else? Hmm..oh yeah, Colin got some clothes.
I bought some books. Um…now he’s at work and I am here typing this. I probably have some work I could do. Yucky.
Joann’s brother died. He was kind of a druggie-type dude. They think he had a heart attack and that the cocaine on the table might have played a part in that. They had graveside services today. Apparently the guy had no insurance.
Hmmmm…. well, that’s about it really. There was no school on Tuesday (Election Day…what was being elected anyway??). My mom and Katee had no school on Friday for Veteran’s Day.
Thanksgiving is soon, and I will get to eat turkey and see my Pouncy.
